BrightMinds (“we”, “us”, or “our”) operates brightmindsquiz.com (the “Site”). This page explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We built BrightMinds for children, so we have kept our data practices as minimal as possible.

1. Information we collect

Playing the quiz without an account: If a child plays without a parent account, we do not collect or store any personally identifiable information. A name and age entered to personalise the quiz session are used only in the browser and are not saved to our servers unless an account is created.

Creating a parent account: If you choose to create a free account to track your child’s progress, we collect:

  • Your email address and a password (stored securely, encrypted)
  • A child’s first name or nickname and age (used only to personalise the experience)
  • Quiz and game results (score, time taken, subject, difficulty level) to show progress over time

Automatically collected data: Like most websites, our server automatically logs standard technical information such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited. This is used only for security and basic site analytics and is not linked to any child’s identity.

2. How we use your information

  • To operate the quiz, games, and parent dashboard
  • To show learning progress and history to the parent account holder
  • To respond to messages sent through our Contact page
  • To maintain the security and proper functioning of the Site

We do not sell, rent, or trade any personal information to third parties.

3. Cookies and advertising

Our Site may display advertisements served by third-party advertising companies, including Google AdSense. These companies may use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on a visitor’s prior visits to this and other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.

You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google’s Ads Settings. For more information on how Google uses data, visit Google’s Privacy & Terms page.

4. Children’s privacy

BrightMinds is designed for children, and we take children’s privacy seriously. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children without parental involvement. All account creation, email collection, and data storage require a parent or guardian to register and manage the account. We comply with the principles of the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and equivalent regulations such as the UK GDPR and EU GDPR where applicable.

If you believe a child has provided us with personal information without parental consent, please contact us immediately at the email below and we will delete it.

5. Data security

We use industry-standard measures, including encrypted password storage and secure server connections (HTTPS), to protect any information collected. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Your rights

You can request to view, update, or delete your account and any associated child data at any time by contacting us. We will respond within a reasonable timeframe.

7. Third-party links

Our Site may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies separately.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date.
